On 13 March 2015, the EU Council extended the application of the EU restrictive measures targeting action against Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. The asset freeze and travel bans against 150 persons and 37 entities were prolonged for a further 6 months, that is until 15 September 2015.

The European Council has added 16 individuals and 9 entities to the sanctions list with regard to the situation in Ukraine. Among those listed in the new additions are Russias First Deputy Minister of Defence, Arkady Bakhin, Russias Deputy Minister of Defence, Anatoly Antonov, and the deputy chief of the general staff of the Russian armed forces, Andrei Kartapolov. The additions are made by Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/240, implementing Council Regulation (EU) 269/2014.
