UN threatens sanctions for blocking Libya peace deal

The UN Security Council has released a statement in which it says that it is prepared to impose sanctions on individuals and entities who threaten Libya’s peace, stability, and security, or who undermine the successful completion of its political transition.

Crédit Agricole reaches settlement agreement for USD 787.3 million after US sanctions violations

Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (“Crédit Agricole”) has reached a settlement with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) for violations of US sanctions laws. Under the settlement agreement it was agreed to pay fines totaling USD787.3 million, dismiss an implicated managing director, and employ a compliance consultant for one year. Iran missile test was violation of UN sanctions according to the US

US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power has stated that the ballistic missile test carried out by Iran on 10 October was “a clear violation” of UN sanctions, and that the United States has confirmed that the missile launched was “inherently capable of delivering a nuclear weapon”. EU suspends Belarus sanctions for 4 months

EU foreign ministers have agreed to suspend the restrictive measures against Belarus for four months, following elections that witnessed President Lukashenko win a fifth term. The decision to suspend targeted asset freezes and travel bans against Belarus for the next four months includes a snap-back mechanism, terminating the suspension if new human rights abuses should occur. The suspension is set to take effect from 31 October.
