Jojanneke Sitsen

Associate Partner

During her studies in Dutch law at Utrecht University, Jojanneke Sitsen developed a strong interest in tax-related subjects. She subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Tax Law at the University of Amsterdam.

She began her career at the Tax Chamber of the Arnhem Court of Appeal (now Arnhem-Leeuwarden). After two years, changes within the judiciary prompted her to pursue a new challenge in tax litigation and advisory practice. She has now been working in this field for more than twenty years.

Jojanneke specialises in tax matters and disputes with the Dutch Tax Authorities, and also provides legal assistance in cases involving tax fraud. She sees it as a challenge to work together with her clients to reach a resolution with the Tax Authorities or the Public Prosecution Service. Where this is not possible, litigation is inevitable. Jojanneke guides her clients through this process with dedication, empathy and a keen ear for their concerns, carefully tailoring the legal strategy in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

Jojanneke is a member of the Association for Tax Science and the Dutch Association of Tax Lawyers (NVAB). From 2014 to 2022 she served on the board of the latter. She is one of the authors of the Dutch Tax Law Documentation (NDFR) and a commentator for the Dutch Journal of Tax Law (NTFR). She also publishes regularly in other leading professional journals and occasionally teaches courses in tax law.
